  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Lately, though, I have rediscovered my voracious reading appetite, as evidenced by the rotating stack of books next to my bed.

...and I took a lazy Sunday on their couch

I love when I rediscover joy like that. When it just *comes back* and there's time to slink down in and enjoy what really matters! Well, one of the things, anyway.

It's one of those nights here, where it would be so great to curl up with a good book. It's all Fallish and damp and windy. But, I haven't been to the library in awhile. So, it's catching up on HBO stuff for me tonight.
